Long Pham

QA Automation Manager at Paramount

I lead a QA team across three regions, build test systems, and turn AI tools into repeatable engineering workflows.

Selected work

Three examples of systems and workflows I’ve built or improved.

Paramount · Across my tenure

Test systems used across teams

I independently built the core Java data-validation framework for Roku, Android and web. A required Jenkins check runs several times daily for multiple teams.

What I built

  • Independently built the core Java data-validation framework using Selenium and Appium, now used by 1,700+ automated validation tests. The framework supports Roku, Android and web.
  • Personally authored 400+ web data tests included in that total.

How teams use it

Multiple teams run the required Jenkins gate several times daily. The centralized test repository supports collaboration across time zones.

How I investigate missed issues

When an issue escapes, I review results across environments to find the earliest detection and understand why it was not escalated. Human review confirms whether a signal is a real issue.

AI tools engineers use every day

I built and maintain an AI agent for data automation. It turns test-library cases into automated tests, runs them, applies fixes and reports results. A second workflow diagnoses, repairs and reruns failing tests.

Daily useBy every engineer on the automation team

Engineers review real issues before escalation.

Starting point

The work spans both creating automated tests and investigating existing failures. I started with Markdown skill files containing reusable instructions, then expanded them into agent instruction files for a dedicated data-automation subagent.

How the workflows work

  • For a new test, the subagent receives the context for a QA test-library case, creates an automated test, executes it, applies fixes and reports the results.
  • For a failing test, a repair-and-retest workflow supports diagnosis, applies a fix and runs the test again.
  • A customizable workflow template connects ticketing, test-case management and chat.

Making it useful to the team

I maintain the agent and support adoption through workshops, guides and templates, with reusable skills for Cursor, Claude and GitHub Copilot. Every engineer on the automation team uses the agent daily.

Human review

Engineers review the results and verify real issues before escalation. The workflows support test creation, diagnosis and repair while keeping engineering judgment in the process.

Activision Blizzard · Battle.net Identity

Expanded Battle.net sign-up automation

As the sole QA engineer on the Battle.net Identity team, I expanded an existing sign-up test framework and made it faster to run.

3×Sign-up test-case coverage
−75%Automation runtime

Compared with the existing sign-up suite.

Read the Battle.net case study

The starting point

The developer-built framework covered basic sign-up checks and needed renewed maintenance and broader coverage. As the team’s sole QA engineer, I took on its expansion and ongoing operation.

What I changed

I used my automation experience to expand and optimize the existing framework. I added test cases and scenarios, enabled parallel execution, and brought the framework under QA ownership and operation.

The result

Test-case and scenario coverage tripled, and overall automation runtime fell by 75% with parallel execution.

Wider responsibility

As Senior Test Analyst, February 2020–June 2021, I handled QA for Battle.net Identity across account creation, login, settings, recovery, OAuth and authentication APIs. I coordinated testing across identity products and created email notifications driven by telemetry from the system.

  2. Acting Manager

    January 2022–December 2023

  3. Analytics QA Engineer

    June 2021–January 2022

Currently lead seven automation contractors across three regions. Previously managed two full-time engineers through June 2025, including formal performance feedback and career development.

Leading across three regions. I led delivery as the team moved from US-based full-time engineers to a fully contracted offshore team. I adapted coaching and detailed written communication around at most two hours of daily overlap, reserving shared time for coordination and meetings.
